Cookie policy

The short version
This website sets no cookies of its own. It has no analytics, no advertising pixel and no chat widget, so there is no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so the site can recognise you next time. The same rules cover similar storage, such as local storage and pixels. UK law, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, says a site must ask before setting any of these that are not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
What this site sets
Nothing. Opening a page on this site contacts our own hosting only. Our fonts are served from our own site rather than from a font service, so no third party is contacted when a page loads, and nothing is stored in your browser.
One exception, named rather than glossed over: the guide page at businessautomations.group/guide still loads one typeface from Google Fonts, which tells Google your network address when that page opens. It sets no cookie. We are moving that typeface onto our own hosting, where the rest of them already are.
The booking calendar
When you click Book a free audit, the calendar loads from book.businessautomations.group, a subdomain of this site that we run ourselves on open-source software called Cal.diy. Nothing from it is fetched before you click. Because the booking page is ours, none of this is a third-party tracking cookie.
Two cookies are set on that subdomain the moment the calendar opens, and the calendar needs both to work. One is a security token that stops a booking being submitted from somewhere else. The other records the page to return you to. Neither follows you around the web, neither is used for advertising or measurement, and neither is set unless you open the calendar.
The calendar also shows a photograph of the person you would be meeting, and that picture is served by Google. Opening the calendar therefore tells Google your network address and which browser you are using, exactly as loading any image from another company would. When we last checked, that image was the only thing on the booking page that came from anyone other than us. We intend to serve it from our own site instead.
Following a link away from this site, for example to our Facebook page or to Messenger, takes you to a service with its own cookies and its own policy.
Controlling this
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings at any time, for every site or for this one. Because these pages set none, doing so changes nothing as you read them. Blocking cookies for the booking subdomain will stop the calendar working, since the two it sets are the ones it needs. If you would rather not use the calendar at all, the email route remains: send one line to info@businessautomations.group and we will reply with times.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count which pages people read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google your network address, your device and what you looked at on this site. It does not load at all unless you accept it. The notice that asks offers Accept and Reject as one click each, and if you do nothing, nothing loads.
You can change your mind whenever you like. Cookie settings at the foot of any page brings the notice back, and choosing Reject stops it. We have switched off Google's advertising signals and ad personalisation, so your visit is not used to build an advertising profile. Google acts as our processor and holds this data under its own terms, which can mean it is handled outside the UK and the EU.
If you accept, we keep the analytics data for fourteen months, which is the longest Google's free tier allows.
If this changes again
Before any advertising cookie or any new third party is added to this site, this page will be updated and you will be asked first. See the privacy policy for how we handle information you choose to send us.
